Global Peace Day 2012

Circle of Hope

Every year Football United joins millions of people around the world from all sectors of society, coming together for the largest gathering of individuals in the name of peace. This year we celebrated Global Peace Day at our Auburn Football in the Park program.

FUn-UniSA win Award


Great news from South Australia, as Football United-UniSA has been awarded the 2012 'Chancellor's Awards for Community Engagement'!

Gala Days


With a growing list of Football United schools in NSW, 2012 saw the first Inter-School Competitions contested in two divisional Gala Days: North and South. South Division was held at Fairfield High School, where the hosts were joined by teams representing James Meehan High School, Airds High School and Miller High School. The North Division was hosted by Granville Rage Soccer Club, contested by High Schools and Intensive English Centres from Granville South, Evans, Chester Hill and Holroyd.

Activities and Connections


In mid-August, sixty students from 7 different High Schools and Intensive English Centres across Sydney travelled to Information and Cultural Exchange's physical home, Switch, in Parramatta. Workshops, as part of Football United's Digital Connections program, were facilitated by leading artists, film-makers and musicians, giving students a taste of storytelling, digital technologies and idea-sharing through digital media.

Airds Community Launch


In August, year 10 and 11 students at Airds High School in NSW were given the opportunity to put their coaching education into practice with the launch of an after-school community program. Students from local primary schools and year 7, 8 and 9 students from Airds High School were invited to come and play, with coaching from students as well as a fully qualified Football United coaching cohort.
